Alliance of Citizens for Edmonds joins Edmonds Environmental Council to help protect and preserve the local environment
The Edmonds Environmental Council (EEC) is welcoming prior members of the Alliance of Citizens for Edmonds (ACE) in joining the EEC.
“Our shared goals are to engage constructively with Edmonds, adjacent cities, and unincorporated areas, to revise and update planning goals, policies, strategies, and regulations; to educate our community; and, to campaign for the protection of the natural and human environment,” said Joe Scordino, president of the EEC board.
Scordino said the ACE board of directors notified its membership in December that ACE would close as an active organization at year-end, but that the board would explore having its members join another like-minded organization.
After determining that the EEC had similar ACE goals for achieving a balance between development and the natural and human environment, Scordino said, the ACE board requested, and the EEC board agreed, that prior members of ACE become part of the EEC without payment of dues. ACE is also transferring its remaining assets to the EEC to support this mission.
With this change, the EEC is also opening new membership (without dues) to others in the community who support the EEC’s mission and goals. Members are asked to make a suggested donation of $20 for the 2026 calendar year to help defer EEC’s legal costs incurred when municipal decisions have to be appealed or litigated.
About the EEC
The Edmonds Environmental Council is a nonprofit organization that seeks to bring balance between needed development, environmental protection, best available science, and compliance with state laws. The EEC says it was formed in response to a growing need for informed voices to help educate residents and City officials on the perils of ignoring the human and natural environment.
