This is a list of our current projects. Click to get to more details.
1. Deer Creek CARA Protection
The City of Edmonds is allowing Underground Injection Control wells to discharge stormwater contaminated with polyfluoroalkyl substances – known as PFAS, directly into the Deer Creek drinking water Aquifer in southern Edmonds. This is a serious threat to safety and public health. EEC is in mediation with the City of Edmonds to improve the development code and avoid a costly legal appeal filed with the state of Washington. |
2. Edmonds Comprehensive Plan Environmental Impacts
Faced with an anticipated population growth of 30% over the next 20 years, the City of Edmonds is struggling though a major Comprehensive Plan update. The EEC will actively advocate for responsible development standards that protect people and wildlife, and mitigates the impacts to clean water and the natural environment. |
3. Edmonds Marsh Restoration
Restoring salmon runs to the Edmonds Marsh system has been an active, multifaceted effort by Board President Joe Scordino and VP Diane Buckshnis for over a decade. |
4. Salmon Habitat Restoration
Edmonds used to enjoy several salmon spawning creeks including Shell, Shellabarger, Perrinville, and Lund’s Gulch. Years of development without appropriate environmental mitigation has all but destroyed this rich heritage. Allies of EEC, Sound Salmon Solutions and the Edmonds Stream Team volunteer organizations, are attempting to return salmon runs to this watershed. |
