Overview

The purpose of this Watershed Protection Plan is to develop and document a program for protection and enhancement of the water supply obtained from Olympic View Water and Sewer district’s Deer Creek Water Supply Facility.

The plan has been prepared in accordance with State Department of Health requirements and incorporates elements of source water protection which are outlined in WAC 246-290-135, -668 and -690. This Plan actually represents a hybrid program combining the key elements of both wellhead and watershed protection planning. The reason for taking this approach to water supply protection is that, although the source of supply is considered surface water, the nature of the supply facilities and location within an urbanized area may increase the vulnerability of the source either from surface activities or through aquifer contamination.
